NHCRWA implements Stage 2 of the Drought Contingency Plan
The City of Houston (COH), the primary source of water for the North Harris County Regional Water Authority (Authority), has entered stage two of their Drought Contingency Plan, effective on August 27, 2023. The COH’s drought response calls for mandatory water conservations efforts to reduce water use, that will reduce the daily volume of water delivered. NHCRWA Implements Stage 1 of the Drought Contingency Plan
Due to the issues at the City of Houston’s NEWPP, the Authority is experiencing difficulties in meeting the high demand under the extreme weather conditions. The Authority is implementing Stage 1 of our Drought Contingency Plan immediately. The Authority’s Drought Contingency Plan request that any customer receiving water from the Authority or well owner whose well is included under the Authority’s Harris-Galveston Subsidence District aggregate water well permit: Check for and repair all leaks, dripping faucets, and running toilets. HRF Clubhouse Closure for Renovations – September / October 2023
The Huntwick Recreation Facilities will be undergoing renovations for the betterment of users of the Rec Facilities. Clubhouse interior will undergo renovating all light fixtures to LED and painting throughout. The Clubhouse interior will be CLOSED for ALL EVENTS beginning Monday, September 25 through Sunday, October 8. HRF Patrons children Art will resume meeting at clubhouse on Wednesday, Oct 11 @ 4:30pm-6:00pm and pre-scheduled private events may resume using clubhouse the week of October 9th. HRF Bark Park Closed August 17th to August 26
The HRF Bark Park located behind tennis courts at Donut Lake Rec Park @ 13715 Charwell Crossing will be closed beginning Thursday, August 17 through Saturday, August 26 Monday through Saturday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Lighting poles refurbishment project inside Bark Park area to be completed by Saturday, August 26, 2023. HRF Bark Park Rules: Effective as of August 14, 2023 per amended HRF Rules & Regulations. Recent Taste and Odor Inquiries Regarding Drinking Water
The recent changes in taste and odor of the treated surface water being delivered by the North Harris County Regional Water Authority (the “Authority”) to a few districts are believed to be the result of a spike in Geosmin and Methyl-Isoborneol (MIB) which are naturally occurring compounds found in Lake Houston. All recent test results have confirmed that the water being supplied by the City of Houston to the Authority and by the Authority to its customers is indeed safe and meets all State and Federal drinking water requirements.
